Alphaville are a German rock group, specialising in either mysterious, lyrical ballads or heavy electronic rock, depending on your point of view.
Their first single, "Big in Japan", was a major international hit in 1984. Their third single, "Forever Young", is equally well-known.
Compared to most bands who have been around for almost four decades, Alphaville's releases have been comparatively few, with a total of eight studio albums by the group, two solo albums by the group's vocalist Marian Gold, and a number of compilation and live albums.
Currently under development is the group's ninth album, tentatively titled Thunderbaby.
